Meet the Bathos
Cassidy & Jack
Married November 20, 2021
In 2019, Cassidy ran a local turkey trot race with family. As she crossed the finish line Jack was there to ask if they could start a new journey together as husband and wife. “It was 7 degrees out, I was freezing cold, but it was an amazing surprise,” Cassidy said.
The couple took on planning as a team, which made their wedding even more special. Each of their personalities shone through and set the stage for a perfect happily ever after. Hear from the bride and marvel at the images shot by Sandra with IndigoBlue Photography.
HEAR FROM THE BRIDE
Q: Let's hear it! How'd you two meet?
A: We met through mutual friends. We went to rival colleges; he went to South Dakota Mines and I went to Black Hills State, so we had a little bit of friendly tension to start out.
Q: Why did you decide to get married in the Black Hills?
A: We decided to get married in the Black Hills mainly because it was where we were living there at the time but also because it's beautiful! I was born and raised in the Hills and Jack came to the Hills for college and it was kind of like our first home together.
Q: Did you include your family members in your planning process? What were their roles?
A: Yes! We both have pretty big families so we had a ton of help. Our wonderful moms pretty much helped with all the decorating, while our siblings helped with a lot of “day of” tasks and last-minute things. My older sister did my hair for the wedding day and my little brother and my dad walked me down the aisle. All of our siblings, six total, all read a piece of scripture during our ceremony which was really special to us.
Q: What was your favorite detail you included in your wedding day?
A: For my jewelry, I wore a set of my great-grandmother's pearls, along with a set my dad had given me a couple of days before the wedding.
Q: What was your theme or style? How did you pick it?
A: We wanted a pretty simple theme for the wedding, nothing too glamorous or anything like that. Our colors were burgundy, some hints of greenery in our decorations, and a desert rose.
Q: Did anything unexpected happen? How did you handle it?
A: I have no idea if anything unexpected happened. My family and the wedding party took care of it if something did!
Q: What's one piece of advice you'd give to future brides?
A: I went to a couple of bridal shows which is where I found my photographer, and it gave me a great start for what to look for and compare businesses and prices and what all the vendors really had to offer. Through most of the planning, we really tag-teamed it and we both had pieces that we planned and some together. We had a queso fountain and everything!
On the big day, don’t get caught up in everything and just enjoy it. I’m pretty OCD, so I was thinking I’d worry about every detail, but being as relaxed as possible made it the best. Also, pick vendors that will make your day as less stressful as possible. All our vendors took really great care of us.
