Our Love Story
We both grew up in the Black Hills and decided there was no better place to celebrate our big day. We also loved the idea that friends and family from all over the country would be here, in our favorite place, and get to see firsthand just how beautiful it is in the Black Hills.
Planning Our Day
When planning our wedding, I wanted it to be timeless. I tried really carefully to make choices and decisions so that in 15 years I didn’t look back at pictures and think ‘Why did I do that?’. I know that I am far too indecisive to pick a color theme, so we went with classic black and white, and I’m so happy we did. I worked in different textures, materials, etc. in the decor so even though the colors were simple, the other design elements added interest and charm. We also took inspiration from looking at pictures of our parents’ and grandparents’ weddings. There are so many classic traditions that are done throughout weddings, and I really wanted to capture those elements in our own.
Wedding Hint
All the details seem so major and important during the planning process, but on the day of your wedding you hardly even remember to look for them. Don’t let yourself stress about the small things, and always remember what the day truly is all about. Also, on your wedding day take 5 minutes with your spouse and just watch the reception from a distance. There is nothing more special than seeing all of your favorite people together and having fun. Soak it all in!
