Our Love Story

We chose to have our wedding in the Black Hills because it holds such special meaning to both of us. Mikayla grew up there, and Charles moved to the area in High School. We met at Black Hills State University, and together we’ve come to consider the Black Hills our home. The breathtaking beauty of the Black Hills with its scenic views is perfect year-round, but we especially love the winter when a dusting of snow creates a stunning contrast against the rolling hills. It felt like the perfect place to celebrate our love!

Planning Our Day

For our wedding day, we decided to skip having bridesmaids and groomsmen. While we still spent time with our friends getting ready, we wanted to keep things simple and stress-free. No one had to worry about buying dresses or suits, and there was no obligation to stand in the ceremony. We loved that this choice allowed us to focus entirely on each other throughout the day, making it feel even more special and intimate. Plus, it gave us the opportunity to take more photos of just the two of us, which was such a meaningful part of our celebration.

Wedding Hint

Our biggest piece of advice for anyone planning a wedding is to do what you want! While there are plenty of wedding traditions, remember that there are no rules when it comes to your celebration. Focus on what makes you happy, not on pleasing everyone else. And most importantly, be present throughout your day. It will fly by, so make sure to soak it all in and cherish every moment!
