Our Love Story
When they say your wedding day is the most amazing day of your life, they aren’t kidding! We had our wedding at Sylvan Lake in Custer State Park and it made for the most beautiful back drop for our special day. From the day we got engaged we knew we wanted to get married there because it was such a special place to both of us. RC has done a lot of rock climbing out there, has trained for climbing big mountains on Harney Peak, and we have so many great memories hiking out there. We started the day in our separate cabins we had stayed in the night before. RC and the guys headed to the auditorium to help with the set up of the decorations. After that they headed to the ceremony site to set up the arbor that RC had built for us to be married under. Alex Alderman with Posh Salon and Jessie Fewson arrived at the cabin bright and early to do our hair and makeup. The morning for the girls was filled with laughter, happy tears and maybe a few mimosas. My mom and sister joined the party when Jenni and her assistants showed up to start taking photos. Before I knew it, it was time to get into my dress to go see RC for the first time that day. My mom helped do up all the buttons on the back of dress and of course more tears were shed. With a big hug to all my bridesmaids, my sister and my mom I headed to see my groom. The moments leading up to the first look were probably the most nervous I was all day. The moment RC walked around the corner my nerves went away and all I could think of was how happy I was to be marrying my best friend. We took all of our photos before the ceremony and we had so much fun climbing on the rocks to get the perfect shot. Storm clouds rolled in and made for some pretty spectacular photos. About two hours before the ceremony it started sprinkling but not enough to stop my amazing team of professionals and family from having a great time. Half an hour before the ceremony the clouds parted and the sun came out, they say rain on your wedding day is good luck anyway.. they were right. My brother walked me down the aisle and him and mom gave me away. Our officiant is a family friend and the ceremony was absolutely perfect. There’s no better feeling than finally being pronounced husband and wife! Custer State Park hit it out of the park with an amazing meal and we danced the night away with Tiki Man Entertainment and thanks to them the dance floor was NEVER empty.

Planning Our Day
The planning was *mostly* the best part! We were engaged for about 11 months so we had plenty of time to plan. I’m very organized and kept a binder with all the wedding details so if RC wanted to see anything, it was all in one place. We were fortunate enough to land a fantastic photographer who helped with the wedding timeline (or playbook as everyone else liked to call it) and every single detail in between. Our officiant is a family friend and helped me iron out the entire ceremony. The endless hours planning definitely paid off.
Wedding Hint
My brother walked me down the aisle and before he did he told me something. He said, “We’re going to stop right here and I want you to look at every single person here. Soak it in, these people are here because they love you both so much. Enjoy this moment, be here, right now.” I would tell any bride to really be in the moment on your wedding day. Don’t be thinking about the ceremony, pictures, reception or if the food is going to be good. You hired professionals to worry about that. They’re going to do their jobs. Soak in every single moment on your day, the looks of your bridesmaids as they see you getting your hair done, your mom wiping away tears as she’s helping you get ready. The look on your groom’s face when he sees you for the first time. Be present for every single second of that amazing day. It really does go too fast.
