How We Met
Our Story: We met during college at South Dakota State University, GO JACKS! The first time we met, back in 2006 after a Jacks football game, we had no interest in one another whatsoever! Time passed and we went our separate ways for about 4 years, when one day out of the blue, Josh made his move. Sparks flew and we began dating. Following graduation from State, Josh took a job in Sioux City, IA, while I worked in Sioux Falls, SD. A year and a half passed and we were faced with a decision that could make or break our relationship. Josh was offered a position in Kearney, NE. I took my chances and followed him south. Two years passed and we were offered yet another opportunity to not only return to SD, but to the beautiful Black Hills!! Although we were both ecstatic about the offer, Josh knew it was time to propose as I would be moving, yet again, for his job. I think we both agree, it was the best decision we’ve ever made!
Planning Our Day
The theme throughout our planning process was “Simple Elegance.” I have always appreciated tradition, but also wanted to add a little sparkle to our day. It’s hard to identify one area over another that we focused our financial attention, because each part of our day meant so much to us. I think we did a good job equally allocating our finances on our wedding day. Looking back however, decor, venue, cinematography, photography, DJ, and floral were major aspects of our wedding plans.
Wedding Hint
Take in every moment! The day passes by more quickly than you could ever imagine. During the hustle and bustle of getting ready, taking photos, and everything else going on, take a moment to take a deep breath, look around, and realize “I’M MARRYING MY BEST FRIEND TODAY!” Secondly, when things go wrong, and they will, don’t dwell on it. They day is going to be perfect no matter what, because again, you’re starting first day of the rest of your life by marrying the man of your dreams!
