Our Love Story

Our wedding day turned out to be absolutely perfect.  Weather in the Black Hills can make an outdoor wedding in October a risky move. Especially on Friday the 13th.  The Monday before the wedding it looked like there would be snow, but on Friday it was sunny and 65. There was a relaxed and casual atmosphere during our short ceremony and we proceeded back to the barn and danced and celebrated until the early morning.  The most amazing family and friends made it a day we will never forget!

How We Met

We met through mutual friends when we attended college at South Dakota State University.  Once we started talking about our lives back home (Chris being from Rapid City and I am from Sturgis), we realized how much we had in common.  We even found out that we had been to some of the same events, it just took us traveling to Brookings, South Dakota to finally cross paths.

Planning Our Day

Once we found our venue and secured a date there and with our photographer, all the other details fell into place.  My mother and mother in law were so helpful, and we made the wedding planning dates so fun!  We had about one year to plan.  All of our vendors were fantastic and made the process go as smoothly as it could.  I also had a lot of help from family members that offered their expertise and talents, which I am so grateful for!

Wedding Hint

The obvious, don't stress and have fun 😊. I didn't have a wedding planner but on the day of the wedding I had so many family members and friends that helped with those small tasks.  One thing I was very thankful for was my personal attendant who basically made ten minutes of free time for Chris and myself to reflect with each other after our ceremony before we joined our wedding party.  It was so nice to have that little bit of alone time because the wedding day is such a whirlwind.  Enjoy every second of it because it flies by!
