Our Love Story

Choosing to get married in the Black Hills was based on our love for scenery and adventure. My husband and I hold the Black Hills very close to our hearts, even though we live in Gillette. We have spent a good majority of our adventures and memory-making in the Black Hills. Not only did the Black Hills speak to us, but so did The Farmhouse Barn. It spoke to both our relationship and our intertwined but different personalities. Everything about our location and venue tells a story about the two of us!

How We Met

High school sweethearts here! We’ve been together since 2016. We met during our junior year of high school — ironically, crossing paths for the first time in detention.

Planning Our Day

The planning process was a different experience! My husband and I chose to do the planning on our own instead of hiring a planner. We did include some family and friends in our planning process. Austin and I worked so hard to plan all the little details of the wedding, while others worked hard to make our visions come to life! Both sets of parents put a lot of time and money into putting our bbq buffet, s’mores kits, and favors together. The rest of our family and some well appreciated friends were there to set up as we had to set the same morning.

Wedding Hint

Something incredibly unique was our guest books. We wanted more than just signatures in a book that would sit on a shelf and collect dust for years to come. We wanted something much more interactive that we could truly hold onto and cherish forever. We had two options for guest books!

We had Jenga as one option. Guests could pick any block to sign, design, or color. Then they stacked them in the acrylic box, and voila! We have a fun game of Jenga to play with all our guests’ names and even some cool artwork to display!

Our second option was an old-fashioned rotary phone from After The Tone to record our guest voices. They simply picked up the phone and left us a voicemail. We sent the phone back to After The Tone and they put the voicemails on a USB. Now we get to cherish the voices of our loved ones forever!
