Proposal
RC and I love going on adventures. We’ve climbed mountains in Colorado, skied in Montana and have hiked all over in the Black Hills. Neither of us had ever been to Glacier National Park so we planned a week long vacation there at the end of Aug 2016. We had planned all kinds of activities, hiking, bus tours, horseback riding. RC had even secretly planned a helicopter ride. The day before he proposed we took an all day horseback ride to one of the original chalets built in Glacier, the only way to access it is by horseback or to hike. On the way back down the mountain, after already riding 12 of the 13 miles, we talked our wrangler into letting us “trot” instead of the slow walk we’d been going. My horse wasn’t feeling it and decided he wanted to buck me off. I hit the ground pretty hard and got the wind knocked out of me but thankfully I wasn’t hurt. Looking back we can laugh about it now but at the time RC was pretty worried I wouldn’t be able to hike the next day (the day he was planning to propose). The morning of the proposal we went on the helicopter ride over the whole park and it was nothing short of spectacular. Later that day he had planned a 6 mile hike to Hidden Lake. We got a picnic together and were off! We hiked through some of the most beautiful scenery and finally came to the rocky shore of the lake. I was STARVING by now and all I could talk about was having the fruit snacks I had packed. Once we got to a good spot I sat down and proceeded to take my shoes off and talk about how I wanted to jump into the lake, it was late August after all. RC hadn’t sat down yet and I was extremely confused as to why he wasn’t joining me, he was just standing there, holding his backpack. After I asked about a thousand times to unpack the dang fruit snacks he grabbed my hand and pulled me to my feet and wrapped me in a big hug. He was being so sweet—I still had ZERO idea as to what was about to happen). After he started telling me how much he loved me and told me he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me it clicked, and the rest is a blur and all I remember is him getting down on one knee and asking me to marry him. With happy tears and lots of laughter, on the rocky shore of Hidden Lake in Glacier National Park I said yes to marrying my best friend and love of my life.
How They Met
I first saw RC at the YMCA when he stopped to talk to my friend. A few weeks later I saw him downtown and we struck up a conversation. Basically the rest is history!
