Chelsea Brooks, daughter of Kevin and Penny Brooks of Sisseton, SD, has become engaged to Ty Werdel, son of Ron and LuAnn Werdel of Chadron, NE.

Proposal

Throughout our entire relationship we’ve always enjoyed going to the gym together and working out as a couple. At the beginning of our relationship Ty had bought us matching “swollmate” necklaces. We wore them every day.
I had been out of town for an entire week and came home to Ty on Saturday night.
After sitting on the couch for a while, wathcing a movie Ty asked me if I had forgotten to pack my necklace before I left. I immediatly jumped up off the couch to go put it on. It was hanging up where I leave it every night. When I went to grab it I noticed it was a little more shiny than usual. There was a big diamond ring on it!! He had followed me into the room and asked me right when I turned around.

How They Met

I was on a blind date (not with Ty!), in Brookings, SD. Ty had just moved to town and had not met anyone yet. He went downtown to a local bar and grill to get a bite to eat where I was on my date. We could not stop making eye contact, he was the most handsome man I had ever seen! Long story short my date got up to head to the bathroom and Ty walked up to me and asked if I would like to leave with him. I did.
