Ashley and Eric Anderson Engagement Announcement

Ashley Uthe, daughter of Gary & Carol Uthe of Presho, SD, has become engaged to Eric Anderson, son of Clay & Melanie Anderson of Belle Fourche, SD.

Proposal

Eric planned to take me for a birthday dinner on September 13 (the night before my actual birthday). He had been busy with work, advising a high school school during homecoming, and trying to fill his archery elk tag in the Black Hills; so he did not give me a good idea what we were doing and I did not expect much. He told me to dress casual, wear hiking boots, and be ready by 6:30- on the dot. We went off on our way towards Deadwood. Before dinner he took us to Mt. Roosevelt (neither of us had hiked there before). We went up Friendship Tower and then to the overlook. We sat (for a long time) watching the sunset. When I said we should go back before it gets too dark, he said “But I have another surprise.” I turned and he was on one knee holding up the ring. I was so shocked!

How They Met

Eric and I met the summer of 2013 when I was moving back to Spearfish. We went on a double date with mutual friends. We realized we had lots in common and spent a year hanging out occasionally doing outdoor activities such as golfing, hiking, and snow shoeing as friends. By the summer of 2014, we were a couple and realized we were perfect for one another. We still spend lots of our time biking, fishing, hunting, camping, and many other outdoor activities.
