Our Love Story

Jason and I are a very non traditional couple. We started the day like any other. I didn't have my hair appointment until noon with the girls so the morning was spent relaxing and drinking coffee. The nerves didn't set in until after the hair appointment and on the way to the hotel to get ready. I freaked out and made one of my bridesmaids drive to McDonald's so I could get mcnuggets and calm down. Everything was calm again until we were lined up for the ceremony. Jason and I didn't do pictures beforehand so we hadn't seen each other. My dad was crying and that was when the nerves set in again! The ceremony was short and sweet and we did it at the same place our reception was being held at. We wrote our own vows which were hard to get out without becoming a blubbery mess. We took pictures downtown afterwards and made our way back for dinner and dancing. It was a beautiful day and once the dance started it started raining. They say rain is good luck! It actually looked kind of cool as our reception room was almost all windows overlooking downtown. The DJ was fantastic and everyone had a great time!

How We Met

Jason and I actually met at work. I moved to Rapid City from Sioux Falls after school for work. We are both surgical technologists and I noticed Jason right away. I think the interest was mutual however neither of us acted on it. I thought it was inappropriate to date a coworker, especially being so new. Well Jason and I became pretty good friends and we did a lot of stuff together. He talked about this girl once that he was kind of seeing and I got SOOO jealous but of course I didn't tell him that. Eventually, on New Years bringing in 2016 Jason kissed me at midnight and that's how it all began. I will also add Jason loves to tell people that he, “crawled out of the friendzone.” ha!

Wedding Hint

You don't need to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars to make the day special. At the end of the day what matters is that you and your partner are together. I look back and just have to laugh at how much time, energy, and stress I put into planning a wedding because it really was such a small part of the day. Although I thought my wedding was beautiful, people aren't going to remember what your decorations looked like, or what food you served. Do what you're comfortable with and what makes you happy! Also I somewhat regret doing my pictures after the ceremony as it was very rushed and a lot of really important photos were missed!
