Lindsey and Lucas Wheeler Wedding Story

Wedding Date
Saturday, September 21, 2013

The moment when I was walking down the aisle with my Dad at my side, and I could see Lucas waiting for me with the cutest, shy smile waiting for me. It felt like he couldn't wait for me to finally get to him and when I did, he just radiated happiness and love. I remember looking at Mrs.Colette (my mother-in-law), in her beautiful royal blue gown, during the ceremony, who was my wedding planner, organizer, helper, shopping buddy and therapist (when planning was stressful!) and feeling so grateful for her love and her son. My wedding would never have been as beautiful and meaningful without her. She was the glue throughout the entire process. I love her for raising her wonderful son and the wedding she made for him.

How We Met

I moved to Nebraska from The South, Memphis, TN, to be with Lucas in Norfolk, Nebraska. We both love the outdoors, hiking, nature, animals, we have 2 beloved French Bulldogs named Leo and Meeko. To honor them at our wedding I had my "something blue" as a blue French Bulldog on both of my ring fingers. Our favorite thing to do is play in the black hills, either by sightseeing in the Hills, gambling in deadwood, or hanging out in downtown rapid city.

Planning for Our Day

Our ceremony was themed as an elegant garden wedding. We splurged on the flowers BIG time. Lucas rock climbed in the Hills frequently when we attended School of Mines as an Industrial Engineer and he goes on a fishing trip with his Dad and our officiant, John Johnson every year so we decided to tie a Fisherman's Knot with rock climbing rope instead of a unity candle or sand. Our reception was like walking into a sparkling, enchanted forest. We had lots of candles and lights and moss/greenery/ and trees/twigs. For the reception we splurged on the food and decorating.
