Our Love Story

Our special day was magical! It rained and even hailed like crazy!! Thankfully it didn't ruin our outside decorations or force us to move the wedding ceremony inside.  Just as the ceremony was about to start at 5:30 PM,  the rain stopped and the ushers were able to wipe down all the chairs and we were able to have the ceremony at the little chapel at Besler's.  As I started to walked down the aisle, the sun began to shine and we had a beautiful ceremony surrounded by family and friends.  We had to take the majority of our pictures after the wedding ceremony and they turned out great!! Kelsey with Natural Escape Photography did an amazing job working with the little time we had between the ceremony and reception.  Our reception was beautiful surrounded by our closest family and friends.  The night was full of dancing, sparklers, drinks, and a fire.  It was a magical fairytale day.

How We Met

Ryan and I met in September of 2015 at The Lodge in Deadwood. I lived in Sioux Falls and he lived in Spearfish.  I was on a girls trip for the weekend, our plan was to win big in Deadwood on Friday night and then head to the Miranda Lambert concert on Saturday in Rapid.  Ryan was celebrating his birthday that weekend with family in Deadwood.  We met that weekend while doing some gambling on Friday.  My mom was playing the Titanic machine and her machine was singing “My heart will go on” as she was winning in a bonus round.  Ryan happened to be playing at a machine nearby and he walked over to my Mom to see what all the commotion was about!  Just as those two got to talking, she introduced me to him and said, “Meet my daughter, McKenzie”.  The rest of the night was fun as we continued to hang out with our family and friends.  By the end of the night, we exchanged phone numbers.  He was texting me right after he left The Lodge with his family being a big flirt!  After lots of texting and driving across the state to see each other, we took a big leap of faith and I made the big move across the state to pursue our relationship. We dated for another year before he proposed!

Planning Our Day

We planned for almost a year.  It took a lot of time and energy, but so worth it!  I love detail so I was all about the small details and making our wedding unique!

Wedding Hint

Don't stress, go with your heart, and have FUN! The day comes and goes so fast.  Take lots of pictures and make sure you hire a high quality photographer and videographer.  Those keepsakes keep the memories alive and will be with you the rest of your life!
