Kara and Curtis Miller Wedding Story
Saturday, July 18, 2015
The ceremony was my favorite part of the day. It was the most gorgeous, sunny July day. I had the entire day and night ahead of me, all of our loved ones were there to share the day with us, and the man I fell in love with at 17 was waiting under the wooden arch he made by hand for us to be married under. My dad cried as he walked me down the aisle, and the entire world stopped as I experienced it all. The sun was shining directly over the alter and I felt an immense feeling of peace. It's cliché to say the day was like a dream; but it was truly perfect.
How We Met
My husband's family has a beautiful cabin in Spearfish Canyon that we visit several times a year. Our very best memories began seven years ago when we started dating and were in the Black Hills. Our best moments together involve four-wheeling, hiking, and taking the Jeep through the trails. In September of 2014, we were simply visiting for our annual picture at our favorite four-wheeling trail near Dumont, SD. The fall colors and birch trees are beautiful. When we were taking our "picture," Curtis proposed and recorded the entire proposal with a hidden camera on the four-wheeler. The following July, we were married at the cabin on the most gorgeous day imaginable.
Planning for Our Day
We splurged on our videography because being able to capture the small moments and watching the entire day in motion has allowed us to relive it over and over again.
Hint for Brides
The best advice I received and used on my own wedding day was to take in every. single. moment. On the day of your wedding, do not stress about pictures, the schedule, or things not going according to plan. You've spent months (maybe years!) planning everything down to the minute. Everything will work out perfectly. I remember taking several moments to step back and just take in everything happening around me. I remember thinking, "This is it. This day is finally here. What I'm feeling, seeing, experiencing...it's amazing."
