Becky and Dave Kindvall Wedding Story
Saturday, September 15, 2012
My favorite part of the day was marrying the most amazing guy. After 7 years together, it was definitely worth the wait.
How We Met
Dave and I met at a house party on September 3rd, 2005, through some mutual friends. That first night, we barely spoke to each other, and I was sure I would never hear from him again. A few days later, he acquired my phone number from one of our mutual friends and called to ask me on a date. I accepted and we had our first date September 9th. He took me to dinner and we had an amazing time. We laughed and talked for hours. We went on a couple of dates after that. September 15th, two weeks after we first met, we were hanging out with his roommates, when he pulled me aside and asked me to be his girlfriend. 6 1/2 years later, we traveled down to New Orleans to visit my family for Christmas 2011. While we were there, we decided to attend the Falcons/Saints Monday Night game. We were one of the first people inside the stadium after they opened the doors, so we walked around and took pictures. We were down by the field, taking pictures when he asked me if I was having a good time. I told him yes. As I started to walk away, he grabbed my hand and said, "I have one more question to ask you," then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him at the stadium. Of course, I said yes!
Planning for Our Day
Our theme was football. The one thing that has bonded us together over these past 7 years is our love of football. We wanted to incorporate our love of football into our wedding as much as we could. We got engaged at a football game, we wore customized football "jersey" t-shirts for our engagement pictures, our wedding pictures were taken on a football field, our cake topper was a football couple, Dave's groom cake featured his favorite team, the Denver Broncos, and we were introduced at our reception to the Monday Night Football theme. Some might say our love of the sport is obsessive, but it's the one thing that has brought us closer over the years.
Hint for Brides
Take lots of pictures. You might think you're overwhelming your photographer, but trust me, you'll thank yourself later. Also, make a list of the pictures you want. You're going to be so busy, you're not going to be thinking, "Okay, we need a picture of this and that." You want to make sure you don't miss any of the important shots. I had a 4 page list of all the photographs I wanted. My photographer got all the shots I wanted, and ones I didn't even think of. Oh, and if it's in your budget, hire a videographer. Pictures are great, but they don't compare to seeing your wedding on video.
